Introduction:
For this project our group is tasked with finding the inner workings of a lighter, and we have to somehow improve the design of the lighter to increase its performance. Firstly, our group tore apart the lighter to research the inner workings, and we composed a chart to point out what each parts' function is; secondly, we researched ways to improve the lighter; for example, we researched on how to changed the color of the flame, how to remove the limiter, and how to increase fuel efficiency. Lastly, we decided to implement our research into our lighter; resulting us tweak the gears for the limiter, and attempt using chemicals like copper and borax to change the color of the flame.

Reflection:
This project went well most of the time because we were able to effectively switch the objective of the project from changing the color of the flame to modifying the size of the flame. We changed our objective because our procedure for flame change did not work properly, and we wanted to have something working by the end of the project; we successfully analyzed the each part of lighter and found that modifying the limiter is the easiest task to do. In my opinion our procedure for the flame changing test was flawed because we did not do enough research about the chemistry of the procedure, and we need to research more and get approval from the instructor to do additional testing. For the lighter, I learned what is the internal workings of the lighter, and how to how to modify the gear on the limiter to increase the size of the flame; because we learned how to modify the limiter we were able to increase the flame size to 23 cm. This project made me to have more leadership skills because I originally proposed the idea of changing the color of the flame, and I proposed the procedure of it, and I learned how to effectively switch ideas when the original idea fails. The instructor's comments -- "your group need to dive deeper into each part of the project" -- made me realize that I need to do additional testing or research for reports, and get more in depth about every aspect of the project.
